When three children, James and Meg Harris and their friend Louise Miller travel alone by train to spend a relaxing summer holiday in New South Wales, they meet a strange man.
At the farm, weird noises are heard in the night and Uncle Dave won't allow anyone into his study. Why?
They find a key to the room and while playing a computer game, James accidentally discovers a secret invention.
Will they get caught in the study? Why is a man lurking around the homestead?
One night they have a seance in the shed. Do they have a dream, or is it really happening?
Each of the children have their own adventures to tell and it changes them forever.

- Jenny Melnik was born in Holland and migrated to Australia with her parents when she was 18 months. The family lived in Melbourne for a couple of years, then moved to brisbane, where Jenny was educated. After leaving school she studied Commercial and Graphic art and later attended University. She became a registered nurse, then gained a primary school teaching degree. She taught in the UK for 6 years before returning to Australia in 2006.
